The 1 lb. bag of Oak Grove Smokehouse Creole Jambalaya Mix makes it convenient to feed a crowd. For a traditional Louisiana Jambalaya, Oak Grove has the best. With garlic, onions, seasonings already mixed with the rice, all you add is your choice of meat, wild game, sausage or seafood (it has been rumored that some Cajuns put all of the above!) Add one pound of meat and in 30 minutes you have six rich savory cups of jambalaya. For an extra easy foolproof way of cooking this, try it in your rice cooker. Serves 8.
- Ingredients: enriched rice ( iron phosphate, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, folic acid), onion, salt, dextrose, hydrolized soy protein, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, tomato, spices, caramel coloring.
Cooking Directions:
- Cut into serving size portions and pre-cook 1 1/2-3 pounds of meat such as beef, pork, chicken or wild game. Seafood and pre-cooked meats (ham, sausage, etc.) can be substituted.
- Into a heavy aluminum or iron pot, add 4 cups of water or lightly seasoned stock and meat ingredient.
- When mixture comes to a boil, stir in OAK GROVE CREOLE JAMBALAYA MIX.
- Cover, and when mixture returns to a boil, reduce heat, stir and simmer 20-25 minutes or bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes - 1 hour.
- When rice is cooked, remove all excess liquid with a spoon or ladle. Remove from heat and turn JAMBALAYA lightly. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Fluff mixture with a fork before serving.
