This easy-to-use base is your shortcut to the perfect gumbo, providing the traditional mahogany color and savory seasoning that is the signature of great Cajun cooking.

  • INGREDIENTS:  enriched wheat flour ( niacin, iron ( reduced), mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), onion,  modified food starch, dextrose, salt, hydrolized soy protein, spices, natural flavors, garlic, partially hydrogenated soybean oil.

Cooking Directions:

  • Chicken Gumbo: Combine 2-3 pounds of chicken pieces, 2 quarts water or lightly seasoned stock, and GUMBO BASE in 4-quart saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until chicken is fully cooked.
  • Seafood Gumbo: Combine 1 1/2 - 2 pounds of seafood such as shrimp, crabmeatn, oysters, etc., 2 quarts water and GUMBO BASE in 4-quart saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer over low heat approximately 30 minutes. Oysters should be added during the last five minutes of cooking. Okra, smoked sausage or andouille may be added if desired.

**For smaller cooking portions, use 2 heaping T. GUMBO BASE for each cup of water with desired amount of meat.

Gumbo Base is the Best

had this in my cabinet for awhile and finally tried it. Will never make Gumbo without it again. Just the right spice and seasoning. Perfect!
